Aristovoulos G. Petzetakis S.A. announces the formal appointment of Mr. Edwin Hewitt as Managing Director of its wholly owned subsidiary in South Africa, Petzetakis Africa.

Mr. Hewitt rejoins the Petzetakis Group of Companies as the Managing Director of Petzetakis Africa. Mr. Hewitt was previously employed by the Reclaim Group, which is the largest recycling group in Southern Africa  as deputy chief executive officer and was appointed to the board of directors of The New Reclamation Group (Pty) Ltd and Reclamation Holdings (Proprietary) Limited in 2008. He joined Murray & Roberts(Pty) Ltd, which is the largest engineering contracting group in Southern Africa in 2000 as an operational executive, and was appointed as an executive director of the group from July 2005 to June 2008, where he had group responsibility for the fabrication and manufacturing division with additional responsibility for the Murray & Roberts Marine Engineering Company. Mr. Hewitt is a qualified metallurgist, with MDip Tech : Metallurgical Engineering (TUT, SA, 1991), IMP executive programme (MIT, USA, 2007) and MDP (UP, SA, 1990).

The appointment of Mr. Hewitt comes after – among others-, the dismissal of 5 senior managers in the Company including the previous Managing Director, the introduction of a new lean organogram, the introduction of new commercial policies, and a cost-cutting plan amounting to 4 million Euro. This integrated restructuring plan aims to – among others - : recoup lost market share and return to profitability.
